Client Background

The client is a well-known automaker with a presence in over 50 countries, focusing on advancing autonomous driving technology. Their new L2+ model required a high-precision positioning antenna that could operate reliably in diverse scenarios, from urban canyons to tunnel entrances, with strict size constraints to fit the vehicles sleek design.


Core Pain Points

1. Positioning Inaccuracy: Traditional GNSS antennas failed to achieve centimeter-level precision in urban canyons (due to signal blocking by buildings) and tunnel entrances.

2. Anti-Interference Technology: Added a multi-layer electromagnetic shielding layer to isolate noise from vehicle electronics, ensuring signal stability in high-interference environments.

3. Compact & Durable Structure: Customized a low-profile FPC (Flexible Printed Circuit) design with a thickness of only 7.5mm, meeting the clients aerodynamic and design requirements. The antenna also passed salt spray, thermal shock, and vibration tests to ensure durability.

4. Automotive-Grade Compliance: Strictly followed IATF16949 quality management system standards throughout the development and production process.


Implementation & Testing

Tengxiangs R&D team collaborated with the clients autonomous driving department for three months, conducting multiple rounds of prototype optimization. The antenna was tested in various real-world scenarios: urban canyons in major cities, tunnel entrances, and high-speed highways.


In-house testing included 20+ items such as signal reception sensitivity, positioning accuracy, EMC compatibility, and long-term reliability. The final prototype achieved 99.8% signal retention in urban canyons and maintained centimeter-level positioning even in weak signal environments.
